Airports:
NRT (Narita Airport)
- Many international flights land in Narita Airport.
- Tips to get to RESCUE from Narita Airport:
- Use Google maps. It will give you information about which trains/buses to take, which stop you need to get off at, and which train station exit you should to use.
- Bus/taxi drivers do not necessarily speak English, and the location of RESCEU is not included in the taxi navigation system. If you do want to take a taxi from the stations to RESCEU or your hotel, please be preapred. If you know where RESCEU is and you want to get there by a taxi, you can ask the driver to drop you off at ‘Todai Byoin’ and then navigate the driver from there in Japanese.
- Some ways to get to RESCUE from Narita Airport:
- Option 1 (via Ueno station): Take a Keisei-line (京成線) train from Narita Airport (成田空港) to Keisei-Ueno (京成上野) station. From Keisei-Ueno (京成上野) station (note that Keisei-Ueno and Ueno station is a 4 min walk) go to the Ueno-Koen-Yamashita (Ueno Park) bus stop and take the “上01” bus that is a loop route between Ueno station and UTokyo campus. Get off at Todai-Konai (The Univ. of Tokyo) bus stop if you are coming to campus. The bus will drop you off inside the campus.
- Option 2 (via Akihabara station): Take a Keisei-line (京成線) train from Narita Airport (成田空港) to Nippori (日暮里) station. From Nippori (日暮里) station take the JR Keihin-Tohoku line (京浜東北線) to Akihabara (秋葉原) station. From Akihabara Station bus stop take the “茶51” bus that runs north along Hongo Dori (本郷通り) and get off at Todai-Seimon (The Univ. of Tokyo) bus stop if you are coming to campus. The bus will drop you off in front of the campus.
- Option 3 (via Ochanomizu station): Take a Keisei-line (京成線) train from Narita Airport (成田空港) to Nippori (日暮里) station. From Nippori (日暮里) station take the JR Keihin-Tohoku line (京浜東北線) to Akihabara (秋葉原) station. From Akiabara (秋葉原) station take the JR Chuo/Sobu line (中央・総武線) to Ochanomizu (御茶ノ水) station. From Ochanomizu Station bus stop take the “茶07” bus that is a loop route between Ochanomizu station and UTokyo campus. Get off at Todai-Konai (The Univ. of Tokyo) if you are coming to campus. The bus will drop you off inside the campus.
- Option 4 (via Tokyo station): Take the JR Narita Express from Narita Airport (成田空港) to Tokyo (東京) station. Take the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi line (丸ノ内線) to Hongo-Sanchome station (本郷三丁目). The campus is a 7 min. walk from Hongo-Sanchome station (本郷三丁目). Instead of going to Hongo-Sanchome station (本郷三丁目), from Tokyo station, one can also take the “東43” bus from Tokyo Sta. Marunouchi-Kitaguchi (Marunouchi North Exit) that travels north long Hongo Dori (本郷通り). Get off at Todai-Seimon (The Univ. of Tokyo) bus stop. The bus will drop you off in front of the campus. In addition, from Tokyo station, one can also take the JR Chuo line (中央線) to Ochanomizu (御茶ノ水) station and take the “茶07” bus explained in Option 3 if you want to be dropped off inside campus.
- Option 5: One can also take long-distance buses from Narita Airport to major stations in Tokyo, then take trains and local buses from the major stations. You can purchase the long-distance bus tickets at the airport once you arrive. For example, you can take a long-distance bus from Narita Airport (成田空港) to Tokyo (東京) station (link). You’ll need to take a train from Tokyo station.
HND (Haneda Airport/Tokyo International Airport)
- Some international flights land in Haneda Airport. Haneda Airport is closer to UTokyo than Narita Airport.
- Tips to get to RESCUE from Haneda Airport:
- Use Google maps. It will give you information about which trains/buses to take, which stop you need to get off at, and which train station exit you should to use.
- Bus/taxi drivers do not necessarily speak English, and the location of RESCEU is not included in the taxi navigation system. If you do want to take a taxi from the stations to RESCEU or your hotel, please be preapred. If you know where RESCEU is and you want to get there by a taxi, you can ask the driver to drop you off at ‘Todai Byoin’ and then navigate the driver from there in Japanese.
- Some ways to get to RESCUE from Haneda Airport:
- Option 1 (via Tokyo station): Take the Keikyu Airpoty line (京急空港線) from Haneda Airport (羽田空港) to Shinagawa (品川) station. Take the JR Yamanote line (山手線) to Tokyo (東京) station. One can also take the Tokyo Monorail Airport line (東京モノレール空港線) from Haneda Airport (羽田空港) to Tokyo (東京) station. For routes to get from Tokyo (東京) station to campus, refer to option 4 above.
- Option 2: One can also take long-distance buses from Haneda Airport to major stations in Tokyo, then take trains and local buses from the major stations. You can purchase the long-distance bus tickets at the airport once you arrive. For example, you can take a long-distance bus from Haneda Airport (羽田空港) to Tokyo Skytree Town/Kinshicho Station (link). Get off at Tokyo Skytree Town, and take local trains or buses to get to RESCEU. (The fastest option will depend on the bus schedules. Google map helps.)
